WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
Iron contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. The iron found in non-meat foods is said to be less effectively absorbed by the body; so those following a veggie/vegan diet may particularly need to up their iron intake through fortified foods or supplements.
We use ferrous gluconate as opposed to sulphate. This is because it's already found in our body, so not only is it more natural, but it's also highly bioavailable. It avoids stomach problems seen in some cases with ferrous sulphate.
THE OPTIMAL COMBINATION:
- B2: contributes to the normal function of the nervous system, the maintenance of normal red blood cells, skin and vision. It also contributes to the normal metabolism of iron, the protection of cells from oxidative stress, and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
- B6: promotes normal protein metabolism, physiological function, and the regulation of hormonal activity.
- B12: key vitamin that those following a vegan/ veggie diet may need to supplement due its lack of availability in non-meat foods. It contributes to normal red blood cell formation; so combines well with iron. Also contributes to normal psychological function.
- Vitamin C is proven to increase iron absorption. Unlike most iron supplements, we have opted for natural vitamin C. Some have found that synthetic vit C has side effects (we recommend you do your research). Natural vit C comes from Acerola cherries: It additionally contains more macroµ nutrients! Such as, carotenoids and antioxidants.
