Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a plant of the ginger family, which is native to South Asia. Its characteristic yellow rhizome, which is very similar to that of ginger, has also made it known as turmeric or ""Indian saffron"". Turmeric is a popular spice in our latitudes. In the Asian region turmeric has also been appreciated for centuries in Ayurvedic teachings and in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It's rich in essential oils and minerals such as calcium and magnesium. However, the most important ingredients of turmeric are the so-called curcuminoids. This also includes curcumin, a bioactive substance which gives the turmeric rhizome its characteristic colour.
Curcumin has a low bioavailability and is resorbed by the intestine only to a limited extent and is excreted directly for the most part. For this reason we combine our turmeric extract with black pepper, which is rich in piperine. The piperine or bioperine increases the absorption of the bioactive curcumine in the body and thus increases its bioavailability.
For our product we only use high-quality turmeric and black pepper in organic quality. Both the turmeric extract and the black pepper extract come from controlled cultivation areas in Sri Lanka. Our product is the only one on the market that contains a Curcuma extract in organic quality and no additives instead of less highly dosed turmeric powder. The result is a high-quality and safe product.
